Around 30% of men have PE at some point in their lives and it can affect people right across the age spectrum.

A highly-regarded medical study conducted with men aged between 18 and 70 in America, Germany and Italy has really helped highlight the impact PE has on people’s lives.

As this 2006 survey was internet-based, the men (and women) interviewed were less likely to compromise with their answers or withhold information. The results were extremely revealing.

Men with PE were more likely to report other sexual dysfunctions as well; such as delayed orgasm (anorgasmia), low sex drive, and erectile dysfunction.

Approximately one in two men with PE (49.6%) reported that they had experienced PE since the first time they had sex, and 34.6% reported that PE had started more recently.

Almost 16% of men indicated that PE had gone away for a while, and then returned again at a later stage.

Just over a quarter of men with PE reported that sexual intercourse had lasted for less than two minutes the last time they engaged with a partner. The majority of men with PE (83.9%) reported that their time to ejaculation was usually between two and five minutes or, in many cases, even less.

PE can have a devastating impact on intimate relationships; with partners feeling rejected and family life suffering.

Critically, the presence of PE was also associated with almost double the rate of anxiety, excessive stress and depression, particularly among sufferers who had failed to address the problem or get appropriate medical help. Psychological side effects such as stress may also sharply increase the rate of heart disease.

Over half of those who battled PE had tried special positions during intercourse, masturbation, and having sex more often than usual to manage the condition.

Incredibly, only 9% of men with PE had seen a doctor about the problem and results seemed to suggest that getting help from a specialist can be a significant factor in success.

Medical and therapeutic treatments are available for PE sufferers. If you think you have PE, don’t be afraid to seek help.
